Beauty Tip #2 - Brighter, Wider Eyes

May 21st, 2010 admin Posted in Beauty 101, Mineral Makeup No Comments »

Have you always wanted to make your eyes look brighter or wider?  One great way is to apply a thin coat of your favorite mascara to both your upper and lower lashes.  And for a brighter, wider evening look, let the first coat dry before adding a second coat focusing the mascara mainly on the base of the lashes.  Oh, and don’t forget to use an eyelash curler before applying your mascara, this will pull the lashes up and away from your eyes opening them up!

Additionally, using lighter color shadows will help keep those eyes looking bright.  Darker shades can cause shadows which will have the opposite effect.  Colors that have a pearly sheen or a delicate shimmer will also help deflect darkness ensuring a nice bright eye!

Be sure to check out our line of Pastel Mineral Eyeshadows, which are perfect for creating a brighter, wider appearance.  Our Pastel Collection comes in 12 great springtime pastels!  You’ll want them all!

Tantalizing Orange - Get the Look!

May 17th, 2010 admin Posted in Beauty 101, Mineral Makeup, New No Comments »

There is something about spring that encourages women to wear brighter, fresher colors such as orange.  We love Hilary Duff’s look featured on InStyle online.  And you can achieve a similar look without breaking the bank.  What could be even better?  Our “Amplify” lip colors are made from pure minerals (no junk, no fillers) and lip friendly ingredients such as Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter.  Read what InStyle had to say about Hilary’s look:

Hilary Duff
Orangey Lips
“My concept was to give Hilary Duff a simple and current look to complement her sheer gray and black dress,” said her makeup artist, Brigitte Reiss-Andersen. She kept the face and eyes neutral, and added intensity by reaching for an orange lip color. If you want to try a similar look, keep the shade modern by blending creamy, nectarine lipstick with a swipe of tinted gloss.  (From InStyle)

Want the look?  Try our Amplify Orange Blossom Mineral Lip Color and top it off with your favorite clear gloss or a slightly tinted gloss.  Afraid you can’t pull-off orange?  Give it a try, we think you’ll be surprised!

Beauty Tip #1

May 14th, 2010 admin Posted in Beauty 101, Mineral Makeup, New No Comments »

This is a killer tip we read about on InStyle.   We love it so much we just had to share it!

Heidi Klum

Want to replicate Heidi Klum’s shimmery, sun-drenched look from the Eva by Eva Longoria fragrance launch in Hollywood, but afraid of looking too soaked? In the palm of your hand, add a pinch of pearlescent powder to your daily moisturizer. Apply as usual for healthy looking skin with a subtle incandescence.  (From Instyle)

We KNOW you want this look!  Such a great summer look, perfect for at the beach or pool!  And of course we have the perfect shimmery pearly mineral powder to help you achieve this dewy look.  Add a pinch of our Eggshell Mineral Eyeshadow to your preferred daily moisturizer.  Eggshell is part of our Pastel Collection which was formulated with spring colors in mind and each color in the collection has the perfect pearly-ness you are looking for to achieve Hiedi Klum’s look.  Don’t use too much though, adding too much can whiten your complexion, to avoid this problem, use a tinted daily moisturizer for maximum results.

How to Wear Green Eyeshadow

May 11th, 2010 admin Posted in Mineral Makeup, New No Comments »

Natalie Portman wore a golden-green shadow on her eyelid and swiped the same color along her lower lashline, and we must admit, this look is absolutely amazing.  The beautiful green shade really makes her golden brown eyes pop!  Read what InStyle had to say about Natalie Portman’s look:

THE LOOK Natalie Portman paired a subtle line of green shadow along her top and bottom lashlines with a bold, fuchsia lipstick.

WHY IT WORKS Don’t shy away from the combination of green and pink makeup—when used in the right balance (soft eyes/strong lips or vice versa) it can be a bold and sophisticated pairing.  (From InStyle)

Beautiful Brown Smokey Eyes - Get The Look!

May 10th, 2010 admin Posted in Mineral Makeup, New No Comments »

Want the look featured below on InStyle online?  You can get this same look using Mineral Makeup from The StarShine Company!  Save money on your makeup and look like a celebrity!  Read what InStyle has to say about Jessica Simpson’s Brown Smokey eyes:

Jessica Simpson - Via InStyle

Brown Smoky Eyes

At the 2010 Operation Smile gala in New York City, Jessica Simpson’s sexy smoky eyes gave us something to smile about. “Jessica had a really dramatic dress on, so I wanted to smoke up the eyes a bit to add some glamour,” said Dior makeup artist Jeannia Robinette. Rather than opting for traditional black and gray shadow, she layered a blend of bronze and brown hues, rimmed the eyes in waterproof black liner, and finished with a few swipes of mascara.  (From InStyle)

. . .

Want the look?  Try our Dark Chocolate Mineral Eyeshadow applied dry to the lids and wet the same pigment with either water or a wetliner and draw thick lines as a liner on both the top lash-line and bottom.   Beautiful for women with brown eyes like Jessica Simpson, but brown is a very friendly color and works well with any eye color!

Mineral Eyeshadow As An Eyeliner!

February 1st, 2010 admin Posted in Mineral Makeup, New No Comments »

Mineral Makeup can be used in all sort of different ways but using it as an eyeliner opens up a whole new world of color options!  Any Mineral Eyeshadow we carry here at The StarShine Company, can be used as an eyeliner, either applied dry or wet, whichever method you prefer.

If you have never tried applying your minerals wet it’s like getting two colors in one.  When you apply our minerals wet you’ll notice they are darker and more bold, so for a day time look, apply your minerals dry, then for a night out, just apply them wet by either dampening your brush, or adding a couple drops of water to your mineral pigments on the back of your hand.  Mix well, until the minerals and water are the consistency of paint.

And even for another dimension, you can use our Eyeshadow Primer & Color Enhancer under your shadows, which will keep your minerals in place longer and give you a nice bold color.  Once you try a primer under your shadows, there will be no going back.
