Blueberry Pomegranate - Spotlight Scent!

July 7th, 2010 admin Posted in Incense, Perfume, Spotlight Scents, General, New No Comments »

In July we will be launching a new scent.  Blueberry Pomegranate is on the menu!  It’s a strong, bright scent perfect for summertime, but this one is going to be great all year round as well.  We describe it as a refreshingly tart and tangy blend of ripe blueberries and juicy red pomegranate.  Fans of pomegranate scents will definitely have to try this one, and those who aren’t huge on pomegranate, should still give it a whirl especially if you like strong fruity scents!  This one might just change your mind.

Weird Scents?

June 16th, 2010 admin Posted in Perfume, General, New 2 Comments »

And we thought we had some weird ones!  We would have classified our Tomato Leaf and Kentucky Tavern as unusual perfume scents, but we found some that really take the cake!

Picture above is “Beetroot” carried by a company called Demeter.  They also carry other unusual scents such as, “Earthworm”, “Mildew” and “Play-Doh”.  Hmm!  Do people really buy and wear these scents, or are they more of a gag gift?  Another interesting scent we stumbled upon is a scent created to smell like Burger King flame broiled burgers.  It’s (not so) creatively called “Flame”.

Now who doesn’t want to smell like Burger King?  Sarcasm?  Yes, maybe a little.  OK, so it’s intended for men, but still!  Sure, guys like burgers, but do they really want to wear their burgers?

So out of sheer curiosity, if we were to carry some unusual scents such as mentioned above, would you be interested?  Let us know!  We’d love to hear from you, and who knows maybe you’ll be able to order that “Bacon” or “Beef Jerky” scent you’ve been dying to wear!  Or send your Mother-In-Law some “Fresh Dirt” for her birthday.

Comment below and let us know what you think!

Rose Bath Recipe - DIY!

June 13th, 2010 admin Posted in DIY Treatments, Beauty 101, Perfume, General, New No Comments »

Here we are sharing another great recipe with you!  We don’t know about you, but a relaxing rose bath sounds perfect right about now.  What is it?  It’s a relaxing bath in Roses (or Rose Water)!

Roses

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 Cup Rose Petals or Rose Water*
  • 1/2 Cup Coconut Milk (Or regular Milk, if Coconut Milk is not available)

*Rose water can be purchased at many health food stores.

If you are using rose water, mix your ingredients together in a large bowl or jug.  Pour the mixture into the warm bath before you slip into it, and stir mixture into the bathwater with your hand.

If you are using rose petals you can add the petals and coconut milk directly in your warm bath water.  You may want to lightly “crumple” your petals to break them just a bit, to allow the floral scent to seep out of the petal and into your bath water a little easier!

Then relax in your beautifully scented warm milky bath!  You may want to lightly rinse your skin afterward, but that is optional!

We hope you enjoy this DIY bath recipe!  Please let us know if you try it and like it!

Don’t forget to apply some fragrant Rose Perfume Oil after your bath so you can smell like roses all day long!  Visit The StarShine Company for other great scents too!

We stumbled upon this interesting recipe for helping rid your skin of unsightly blemishes.  We thought we’d share since all of the ingredients used in the recipe, are items you’d typically have in your fridge or pantry.  If you give it a try, let us know what you think!!

Tomato

Ingredients:

  • 1 Ripe Tomato, chopped
  • 1 tsp. Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp. Instant Oatmeal or Rolled Oats

Blend all the ingredients until just combined, a paste-like consistency.  Apply to blemishes, mixture should be thick enough to stay in place.  Leave on skin for 10 minutes.  Remove the tomato mask with a damp washcloth, rinse and tone your skin with your favorite toner.

Enjoy!!  And hopefully your skin will be beautiful and clear!  And if you like the scent of tomatos, you might be interested in our Tomato Leaf Perfume Oil from The StarShine Company.

Why You Should Wear Perfume Oils Instead of Alcohol Based Perfumes

October 30th, 2009 admin Posted in Perfume, General, New No Comments »

I may be slightly biased but even if I didn’t sell perfume oils I still would prefer them over the alternatives such as body mists and alcohol based perfumes.  You might wonder why and the answer is really quite simple, alcohol based perfumes evaporate rather quickly, typically taking the top notes and middles notes with them within a few minutes.

Oil based perfumes on the other hand last much longer because oil doesn’t evaporate the way alcohol does, which means your top and middle notes will last longer.  However, there is one truth for both oil based perfumes and alcohol based perfumes that the more you are around the scent, which let’s face it is the whole time you are wearing it, the more you get used to it.  So you might think with either type, the scent just doesn’t last as long as you’d like, but don’t be fooled, it’s still there… you just don’t notice it as much because that’s just how our noses work!

Another great reason to choose oils over alcohol is because oils are much more gentle on your skin than alcohol which can be very drying.   Why not use a longer lasting scent that keeps the skin fresh, young and hydrated over the alternative?  I used to purchase body mists like crazy before I discovered perfume oils.  I’d spray them all over me and my clothes, coughing the whole time, only to have the scent die out quickly and feeling the need to apply more.  You won’t get that coughing from perfume oils!

Lastly, and probably my favorite reason for choosing perfume oils (and I think you should too) is because of the concentration ratio!  With alcohol based perfumes the end product contains mostly alcohol and or water, with only a little fragrance added.  The concentration in perfume oils can be significantly more, meaning the quantity of your perfume oils will last longer because the scent lasts longer and you won’t need to reapply it as frequently.

Like I said right off the bat, I am biased.  I love, make and sell perfume oils but I know if you haven’t tried them yet, if you do, you will quickly rethink you whole perfume strategy.  Granted, you may not ever be able to completely give up that number one favorite perfume, your signature scent, but who knows give our perfume oils a shot and you might find yourself searching for a new signature scent!
